| Q. Where is Red Baron Pizza, for the Camp Oakes trip? |
A. The tribe usually eats at Red Baron Pizza on the Friday night of the Camp Oakes trip. 6:30pm is the usual dinner time. Red Baron's is about a 10-12 minute drive (8 miles) from Camp Oakes. From the camp, make a right onto Highway 38, left onto Highway 18 which turns into Big Bear Boulevard. It is located on the left side of the road in a large shopping center. It is in the first shopping center that you will see, coming from the camp.

| Q. How do you clean pots and pans? |
A. Cleanliness and hygiene are very important when it comes to keeping the cooking gear clean and ready for the next meal. This write-up serves as a primer for new dads, so that this task gets done right.
Cleaning pots and pans is not easy, and the process is not well understood. Based on observations on what other tribes do, plus watching TV commercials, we believe that the following is adequate:
After the meal in question has been served and devoured, collect all of the dirty pots and pans.
- Take the pots and pans to an area where there is a source of clean water, and not in a shady area.
- Lay the pots and pans down on the ground (preferably a concrete pad or clean sand with minimal organic matter), forming a grid-like pattern.
- Place one Brillo pad on the center of each pot/pan (note, larger pots will require 2 Brillo pads, so use judgment).
- Using a common garden hose (5/8” or 3/4” diameter) and nozzle (such as the Commando 940, available at Home Depot, garden section), gently spray water onto the pots/pans. Do this for 2-3 minutes, then turn off the water.
- At this point, just do nothing. The Brillo pads will self-cleanse the pots/pans by capillary action. Further, as the sun dries off the soapy water, the pots/pans get hot and expand, causing the scorched-on food fragments to lose their bond to the metal.
- The drying process takes about an hour. At this point, hit the pots/pans with as strong of a water stream as possible from the hose. Use the stream to blow off the Brill pads and food fragments from the pots/pans. Show no mercy! Then use a gentle stream to rinse any remaining soap from the pots/pans. Turn off the water, drain and coil up the hose, and put the hose back into the chief’s tent.
- Let the pots/pans dry in the sun for about 1 hour. Then collect the now-clean pots/pans and transport back to the campsite. You are done!
